Hydrotherapy

There are many aspects of exercise in water that make it beneficial for many dogs (and even some cats!)

We all know that water makes pets buoyant. This buoyancy allows them to reap the benefits of low impact exercise and reduce the weight on their joints.

Water also provides resistance to movement which is helpful in strengthening and conditioning. Adjusting the height of the water will make this movement more or less difficult based on our patients needs. The speed of the treadmill can be adjusted to suit both large and small patients. This helps us with gait retraining.

The underwater treadmill gets filled with warm water to the appropriate height based on the individual patient's size and body condition. The warmth of the water is soothing for sore joints as well!
